Set shortly after the end of the tragically long Nepalese Civil War, WHITE SUN is about a family separated by war, only to be reunited by death years later. A complex drama, the film follows Maoist Agni’s return to a town that is not welcoming of him or his progressive ideologies, and a family who has yet to forgive him for past tensions. From director Deepak Rauniyar (HIGHWAY), the film premiered last year at the Venice Film Festival, winning the Interfilm Award for promoting interreligious dialogue, and went on to screen at Toronto International Film Festival and win the Best Asian Feature Film award at Singapore International Film Festival.
